Managing ACA-Compliant QHP Filings for Individual Health Coverage

About Me

I am a 31 year old father and husband. A Regulatory Compliance Associate since 2019, I consult with business units on corporate regulatory compliance programs in the Healthcare and Medical Insurance industries.

I currently analyze, audit, and file SERFF/HIOS regulatory filings for Individual Health Insurance Plans in the QHP/ACA Market (both SBE and FFM).

I have been developing software and coding/scripting for almost 20 years. Prior to my involvement in the Healthcare Industry I was Product Support Specialist for Airbnb.

I prefer working in Python, Javascript, or GoLang but I have worked in dozens of languages and frameworks. Pick the right tool for the job.

Regulatory Experience

With the pace of regulatory requirements increasing, it can be difficult to understand and implement compliance programs without disrupting business operations.

I have years of experience maintaining an open communications channel with various Federal and state regulators in the medical industry. Staying plugged into the FDA/CMS guidance allows for proactive business strategies to be implemented from the ground up.

Managing Regulatory Risk

As you introduce additional components to any business as a service, it's easy to find your wires tangled. Proactive internal audits of regulatory filing documents can prevent inefficient/ineffective policies from scaling the risk as your business grows. I have implemented compliance programs to manage these audits electronically and efficiently.

Developing Your Tools

When gold is booming, the wise entrepreneur sells gold pans and pickaxes. The right tool for the job is crucial to supporting any market. Regulations are no different.

If a regulatory requirement can be met programmatically through automation, then the tool itself can become a solution to a regulatory compliance concern. Developing this sort of tooling software has been my niche for the last decade.
